Giammarino Wines
With vineyards in both the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula, Giammarino Wines is a boutique, family-run winery that blends Italian tradition with cool-climate Australian terroir. Founded by the Giammarino family—whose winemaking roots trace back to Semi Vicoli in Abruzzo, Italy—the estate is now led by second-generation winemaker Dino Giammarino, with parents Vittoria and Nicoletta tending the vines by hand.
The winery’s philosophy is simple yet profound: great wine begins in healthy soil. Every aspect of vineyard management is approached with sustainability and care, from composting and mulching to the use of compost teas and gravity-fed winemaking. The result is a portfolio of expressive, small-batch wines that reflect both place and purpose.
Giammarino’s vineyards are planted to a thoughtful mix of varietals, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Fiano, Sangiovese, and Nebbiolo. Each wine is made with minimal intervention—wild ferments, gentle pressing, and extended barrel aging—allowing the fruit and site to shine. The Sangiovese and Nebbiolo in particular pay homage to the family’s Italian roots, while the Fiano from Mornington Peninsula offers a crisp, aromatic counterpoint.
The newly opened cellar door in Healesville (Yarra Valley) offers a warm, personal tasting experience, often hosted by Dino himself. Open Sundays and select public holidays, the space invites guests to explore the full range of wines while learning about the family’s journey—from post-war migration to modern-day winemaking.
Giammarino Wines is more than a label—it’s a living story of resilience, craftsmanship, and connection to land. Whether you’re sipping a structured Cabernet, a textural Chardonnay, or the tribute white Nicoletta, each bottle is a reflection of the family’s values: authenticity, sustainability, and a deep love for the vine.
