Crittenden
Crittenden Wines is one of the oldest family-owned wineries on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, renowned for its cool-climate wines and sustainable viticulture. Established in 1982 by Garry and Margaret Crittenden, the winery has played a pivotal role in shaping the region’s winemaking identity, pioneering alternative varietals and innovative vineyard practices.
The estate spans 27 acres in Dromana, producing a diverse portfolio of wines, including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Savagnin, Pinot Gris, Tempranillo, and Prosecco. Crittenden Wines is committed to biological soil health, having abandoned synthetic fertilizers in favor of composting, cover crops, and natural vineyard management. The winery’s sustainable approach earned it the platinum medal at the International Sustainable Winegrowing competition in 2020.
Visitors can experience the Crittenden Wine Centre, a custom-built cellar door offering seated tastings guided by knowledgeable staff. The tasting format is educational yet relaxed, allowing guests to explore over 25 different styles and varieties. The estate also features Lakeside Villas, providing luxurious accommodations overlooking the property’s lake.
Beyond winemaking, Crittenden Wines has contributed significantly to the Mornington Peninsula’s wine and tourism industries, with Garry Crittenden recognized as a Legend by the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival in 2012. Today, the winery is led by Rollo Crittenden, who continues the family’s legacy while embracing modern techniques and sustainability.
With a philosophy centered on craftsmanship, sustainability, and innovation, Crittenden Wines remains a benchmark for premium cool-climate winemaking, offering wines that are both expressive and timeless.
