Coriole Vineyards
Coriole Vineyards is a family-owned winery with a legacy dating back to 1967. Founded by Hugh and Molly Lloyd, the estate has remained in the hands of the Lloyd family for generations, blending heritage winemaking with modern innovation.
Coriole is renowned for its Shiraz, the backbone of McLaren Vale’s winemaking tradition, with vines planted as early as 1919. However, the winery has also been a pioneer of Mediterranean varietals, introducing Sangiovese to Australia in 1985 and later expanding into Fiano, Montepulciano, Nero d’Avola, and Piquepoul. These heat-tolerant varieties thrive in McLaren Vale’s warm climate, producing wines that are food-friendly, vibrant, and expressive.
The estate’s historic farmhouses, built in 1860, now serve as the cellar door and restaurant, offering visitors a rustic yet refined experience. Guests can enjoy wine tastings, seasonal lunches, and locally sourced produce, all set against the backdrop of lush vineyards and coastal views.
Beyond wine, Coriole is deeply connected to South Australia’s cultural scene, hosting the Coriole Music Festival, an annual classical music event that has been running since 1999. The winery also produces olive oil and balsamic vinegar, further embracing its Mediterranean influences.
With a philosophy centered on sustainability, craftsmanship, and innovation, Coriole Vineyards continues to shape McLaren Vale’s winemaking landscape, offering wines that are both timeless and forward-thinking.
