Bondar Wines
Bondar Wines is a boutique winery that embraces bright, structured, and savoury winemaking. Founded in 2013 by husband-and-wife team Andre Bondar and Selina Kelly, the winery is based at the renowned Rayner Vineyard, located on the border of Blewitt Springs and Seaview sub-regions.
Bondar Wines is known for its Grenache, Shiraz, and Mediterranean varietals, including Counoise, Mataro, Carignan, Cinsault, Touriga Nacional, and Sagrantino. The vineyard is managed using organic practices and is certified under the Sustainable Winegrowing Association of Australia, ensuring a minimal-intervention approach that allows the fruit to express its true character.
The winery’s philosophy revolves around lighter, brighter, and more intriguing wines, crafted with whole bunch fermentation, extended skin contact, and early picking to achieve balance and vibrancy. Bondar’s wines have earned multiple 90+ scores, and the winery was named James Halliday’s Best New Winery in 2017, later achieving a 5 red-star rating.
Visitors can experience Bondar’s Cellar Door, located at 148 McMurtrie Road, McLaren Vale, where they can enjoy seated tastings and a relaxed atmosphere. The cellar door is shared with Lino Ramble and Sherrah Wines, offering a diverse selection of boutique wines.
