Founded by Rob Mack and Louise Rhodes in 2015, Aphelion has quickly gained recognition for its Grenache-focused portfolio, earning praise from critics and wine lovers alike.
Aphelion specializes in Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Chenin Blanc, producing wines that are vegan-friendly, unfiltered, and unfined, with low sulphur levels to preserve their natural vibrancy. The winery’s philosophy revolves around gentle handling and minimal intervention, allowing the fruit to express its true character and provenance.
Visitors to the Aphelion Cellar Door, located at 67 Kays Road, McLaren Vale, can enjoy a relaxed and immersive tasting experience. Overlooking vineyards, bushland, and a lavender farm, the cellar door features a hardwood deck and a “Make Your Own Platter” station, where guests can curate their own selection of local produce to pair with Aphelion’s wines. The winery also offers a unique “Back of the Ute” vineyard tasting experience, placing guests right among the vines for an exclusive, South Australian wine adventure.
